Toms River: On Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 9:51 AM police units were dispatched to 2360, Route 9, Wells Fargo Bank, for a hold up alarm call.  It was reported that the suspect had entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money.  The suspect then left the bank across the parking lot on foot after being given an undisclosed amount of money by the teller.  No weapon was shown by the suspect.  A detailed description of the suspect was broadcast by the Toms River Police Department Communications Division to responding officers. Police Dispatchers worked closely with the arriving officers as the scene unfolded. Officer Sean Smith responded to the area and observed a male matching the broadcast description exiting a wooded area on Route 9 just south of the bank location.  At 9:58 AM the suspect, identified as Daniel Brown, 30 of Toms River, was detained and found to be in possession of the money stolen from the bank.  At that time, Brown was placed under arrest by Officer Smith.

Investigation was continued by the Toms River Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Unit and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  Mr. Brown was charged with Robbery and Theft by Toms River Police Detective Jon Turner and lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
