Waretown: A loyal fan has asked us to share a story about the tap water in town. He claims his tap water smells strongly like bleach or chlorine and is wondering if anyone else noticed. We are waiting to hear back for which section of Ocean Township he resides in, but he’s going to have the water tested.
The homeowner is inquiring if the water authority has recently treated the system, or performed any other maintenance that would result in the odor. If you live in Waretown, please share the current status of the tap water in your home. We will share the results of his water test when he sends it out.
Marian Schinski ???
It surely doesnt lol
Haven’t noticed that, no.
It happened to me a couple times when I lived there. Hope you have a good landlord
Scott Barnes , question, what would the landlord have to do with that? Not being snarky.
Meghan Schaab many Waretown homes are rentals…
As a tenant renting in “the Township of Ocean”, the landlord isn’t able to do anything about my water supply. I pay directly to the town, despite the fact that it can’t be assigned to me as tenant.
So Meghan’s question still deserves an answer: what does the landlord have to do with the water quality?
Steph VanPelt deserves? When the person asking is proven wrong? Lol
Scott Barnes ?
You haven’t proven anyone wrong, just contributed some insight.
Sorry to imply that you’re obligated to discuss things in a logical format. I wasn’t trying to tell you what to do, just point out that you didn’t answer her question at all.
Good grief, it’s SO easy to offend people these days! Jeez!
Steph VanPelt I was proven wrong. That what I was saying. Relax
You implied you proved Meghan (the person asking) to be wrong. Lol ?
Scott Barnes
The kind of guy who gets smart on the internet and then tells other people to relax. Lol
Steph VanPelt how did you get involved in the conversation? I was mistaken I admitted it. And you’re still going. And when I lived in Waretown (off bay parkway), I had the biggest do nothing landlord and he thought he could control the utilities. We knew better but I was trying to be good person in case she had the same issue. Then you interjected. So why are we still on this???
Steph VanPelt nice assuming to know anything about a person no reason for it
Lol, seriously dude? Attention deficit, or selective attention? The reason I commented is literally in my comment. I didn’t decide to cop an attitude, you did. And now you’re playing victim. Spare me ?
Steph VanPelt no I’m not. You jumped in a conversation. I admitted to being mistaken n you take it upon yourself to continue a dead issue. So when someone admittedly cops to a mistake. An adult drops it. Playing victim my ass. At least I know how to move on from a subject. Why are you still on this?
Lol Scott. Because you keep commenting to me, tagging me, etc. This is Facebook, a public forum. Not a private conference room or your own personal space. I’m not sure what your beef is.
You’re an adult, right? Take your own advice lol.
zzzzzzz so that’s why you’re responding. No problem. Smfh
See my previous comments for answers to redundant questions ?
I don’t conduct myself by Scott’s Guide to Facebook Standards. Sorry ’bout that.
So I admit to being mistaken, and I get berated for no reason Jesus Christ. Goddess forbid anyone makes a mistake around you. Guess we have to follow the steph guide to trolling. Girl, I can trade with the best of them but I just don’t feel like it with you. So a person admits to a mistake and gets trolled and harassed. I get it. Meghan, sorry my mistake!!! Sorry I responded and got white knighted.
I live in waretown and i don’t have that issue i live off 532
Robert Haas east side of nine normally has that issue Ik my house in the morning is like drinking pool water
Mike that suxx cuz we are fed off the same water system maybe cuz your closer to the watee tower..
Maybe or Waretown hates me and has been trying to get rid of me secretly for years
Mike ???
Robert Haas they replaced water mains around the holiday beach section a couple years ago. My house’s water has been smelling and tasting like chlorine ever since.
Mike Volker I guess that makes a few of us ?
Ours in Bayville always smells like bleach! This morning it smelt so bad like heavy metal. I took a shower and my hair smelt like that. It’s so gross.
I agree Bayville water smells all the time it’s gross!
Bayville water has smelled like bleach for a long time!
Jill Gohr sulfur sometimes metal water is like a greenish orange yellow at different times…
Bayville’s water is gross!
I’m in Tom’s River although my water never smells I still will not drink it. Bottled all the way!
I never had the issue. I fill up my giant water jug from the tap daily.
Not having an issue in the present is not indicative of there not being a problem. Nobody really pays attention until working-age people get very sick, or die young.
People are making similar complaints in sections of Bayville – Sylvan Lake & Berkeley Shores – all on Aqua?
Barnegat is like that, atleast my part of barnegat. It smells like chlorine, I still drink it daily, about a gallon everyday….You know you can get your water tested, home depot does it……just saying, if your that worried…
Meghan Schaab barnegat made us hook up to the water system and I now drink bottled water. Our well water tastes great and nothing was wrong with it. When I fill my tub I can smell chlorine
That doesn’t mean it’s good for you though lol
Meghan Schaab a gallon of smelly chlorinated water? Oh my….did u get it tested at home depot?
So does Lacey’s..mine has been really bad lately
We get that in Brick. Once or twice during the summer months.
At least your water isn’t pink like in Ocean Gate
Manchester does
Mine im in Manchester
Manchester water smells the same
Sometimes it smells like that in BHW as well. I don’t drink it, because I don’t like the way it tastes.
Never had an issue in Waretown. The water is actually one of the things i miss. Now Beachwood on the other hand is soooo bleachy. I fill up my tub and some days it’s so bad.
Robyn Tiffany #beachwood has its #bleachwood
Ryan Thowers LoL
Robert Tomkovich
Hmmmmm…. Will have to look into that one, TU
Robert Tomkovich you’re welcome
Jaclynn Ashley
We don’t have that problem, Dogtown section of Waretown.
Manchester water has a red gel like bacteria in it, Manchester has sent out letters to a client of mine. Basically saying the water is dangerous Do Not Consume!
https://www.google.com/amp/s/patch.com/new-jersey/manchester-nj/amp/27675560/manchester-takes-2-wells-out-service-due-radium
We live in the Royal Oaks section and have not had those issues with our water.
Teri Yonaitis no issues in holy oaks, as of yet!
They may have just treated the water system and depending on where he is from where the water comes in from the main he maybe be closer than others…the further down the main the less it will smell of chlorine…open the taps and let the water run for a bit…but as water is used more the smell will go away…very common especially this time of year as the water usage increases and requires the aquifer be treated more regularly
Robin Lee we ran our taps for at least 5+ minutes several times following the main replacements. And we’ve been running the water regularly ever since. It’s still present (the odor, and the taste)
Same thing in Tom’s river
My water smells like iron,it’s irritating my skin. I hope they resolve this soon in Bayville ,I sent Aqua a message since they don’t answer their phone
Fine in royal oaks section
In Toms River, emerald apartments
My water has smelled like that for months now
Water is fine on The Woods
Danielle Ann Marie Gianfranco Barbalace
Jennifer Barbalace Nothing here.
Danielle Ann Marie ok
Charcoal water filter takes most of the odors out of the water.
At times, Silverton section of tr has
Tara DeFalco yep noticed that too. Only certain times it seems, not always.
Just to enlighten some of you on your water. The shit piss and shower waste water that go down your drains funnel back to the treatment plants where they treat your waste water with tons of chlorine and send it back to you through your faucets. HAPPY DRINKING EVERYONE.
Paul Ippolitto
NOT true.
Paul Ippolitto
This is the most lame-brained post I’ve ever seen….. And every time you take a breath you breathe my farts too
Paul Ippolitto exactly…(and many other chemicals during the process).
Not true at all, is it James
Bryan Pedicini it true in other parts of the country where there been droughts. However in Jersey it not possible. Wastewater that is treated is treated then pump into the ocean a mile off shore. At least in ocean county anyway. Other parts of the state may dump in streams and the ground depending on how many gallons they treat, and what their permits allow.
James I know where it goes lol just wanted everyone else to know
Bryan Pedicini I know but might of well say it for all to read! Lol
Ant Zang
Sodium Hypochlorite.
How would you suggest disinfection.
James Agnello RARELY on the ground in New Jersey. Some states allow use in irrigation.
I am not, nor am I complaining if I smell it.
James Agnello how nice…a mile off shore …why bother ?
Probably Hypochlorite
Again with the ware town google doesn’t even know where it is
What are you even trying to type ?
Maybe your Google skills are rusty lmao
Same in Toms River
Beachwood water smells like chlorine too. I’ve lived here over 30 years and its always been like this. I use bottled water.
I always use a filter
I live in Brick & mine does also!
Toms River smells like that and has a yellow tint to it. Gross!!!!
Roseann Stewart that’s just your house ????
I live in sands point on Dock in Waretown. We def have a chlorine smell to our water.
Here is a question for all. Who is your water company. If aqua contact them and make formal complaints. If no help from them contact the BPU and make a complaint. Berkely has 3 different water companies. Mine is fine but others complain about Aqua and or Suiz. Definitely a problem to make sure they know about.
Yes it will most likely fall on deff ears with these companies.
Darrel Ward i tried that. Came to my house “tested the water” and left. Huge joke
Christina Cassese like I said falls on deaf ears. Did you try the BPU. Since the water company will only test and look the other way
Manchester just recently told their residents to use the water as little as possible because they’re running low on it but to me it seems there is something alot worse that they don’t want to tell anyone
Jarrett Kenney low? It’s been raining
Ester Rozdowski I seen a post about it the other day
I live in Manchester and didn’t receive a notice ?
The valve that regulated the water in tower broke so the tank wasn’t refilling they had no clue it stopped and they were low on water because of it
Have well
Yes in TR also
https://www.waterlogic.com/en-us/resources/water-problems/why-does-my-water-smell-like-bleach/
Toms River does too, but it’s not constant. I buy bottled water to drink.
Report to your local water company… most likely Suez or Aqua…cud b NJAW also
Colleen Ann
It’s normal, usually a “residual” of 0.3 parts per million “free” chlorine is maintained for disinfection.
You’ve tested it? It definitely seems elevated from what’s considered normal. Sans test anyway.
Bayville mine does also
I live in Waretown and my tap water tastes like lead
Yes, there’s a strong chlorinated odor and noticeable taste, ever since that water main work they did a couple years ago. I live on Seneca in Pebble Beach.
Steph VanPelt we lived in the same neighborhood. Every time I got out of the shower, I smelled like I just got out of a pool. I thought my nose was just overly sensitive.
Steph VanPelt we lived in the same neighborhood. Every time I got out of the shower, I smelled like I just got out of a pool. I thought my nose was just overly sensitive.
Toms River on Hooper and church smells like bleach and chlorine it’s disgusting!
My mom’s water in Berkeley (Holiday City) smells like that. I’m in Toms River I only use tap for dishes, clothes and shower because it too smells like bleach most of the time. We use spring water for drinking and cooking.
Bayville water smells of rust and has particles in the water. Called Aqua and they said they would flush at the street today, never came. They are awful.
Why doesn’t your loyal fan call Public Works of Ocean Twsp or who ever the water company is?
Was told both times I lived in Waretown, buy a faucet or pitcher filter. Water did have a pool chemical and metallic smell to it
Scott Barnes They should supply em if they can’t supply acceptable water.
Scott Barnes They should supply em if they can’t supply acceptable water.
Danny Haze both Aqua and whatever the other ones are as corrupt as the ass clowns who want to build on the disease filled Ciba giegy site
