A small airplane made an emergency landing on an Ocean City beach around 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
The pilot, who was the only person in the plane, was not injured, police said.
A witness was able to capture the landing, which occurred at 49th Street, on video.

He was doing so good untill the end
He was doing so good untill the end
He’s upshits creek now because he was trespassing on the beach without paying the beach Badge fee
Ray Milne and obviously driving on a beach without 4 wheel drive!
Drew Zaun Lol, big fine there ?
Don’t tell Murphy. He’ll start taxing planes on the beach. Can’t tell Menendez either. He’ll ban planes like he wants to do with beach umbrellas.

Are pilots licenses really that easy to get that we’ve had two planes go down real bad within a month? Shit it’s turning into the cdl for bus drivers evidently
Erik Dollman it’s not there is a lot of ground school and training that goes with getting a single engine license but this was an emergency landing so probably mechanical which is the responsibility of the pilot or the airport it’s rented from or a medical emergency. The weather didn’t seem to be bad the only thing weather wise that could have messed him would be high winds or a cross wind he couldn’t control. Either way if you watched the video it was a clean landing and the picture fools you he didn’t land nose up that was a video edit shot, looks like the front wheel was caught from the sand but it landed right way up
Erik Dollman idk based on his emergency landing on a beach it seems to me he knows what he’s doing, and can even act under pressure .
Erik Dollman no it’s not easy to get a pilots license. It’s 3 examinations. Our flight exam the examiner will pull the throttle to idle and say you lost your engine land the plane. We cannot touch the throttle otherwise we fail. We must return the aircraft back to the runway and land it correctly. We are trained to handle situations just like this pilot did in case of an engine or other type of failure. As pilots our mantra is Aviate Navigate Communicate. We fly the plane we figure out where we are going and we tell air traffic control what is happening. We also must attempt to land in an emergency in the safest possible area. Luckily on the jersey shore the beach is right there and a perfect spot provided no people are in the vicinity. Also to get your private pilot certificate it will be a minimum of 40 hours in the air flying and typically is more like 60 by the time you take your flight exam. The pilot landed this plane by the book the best they could, and walked out with plane intact and no one injured. Planes can be repaired, death cannot. Well done pilot
well my assumption was incorrect. Mabey beef up on a pre flight or the mechanics need more training.
Erik Dollman pre flight covers everything we can see. You cannot expect a pilot to take apart an engine to check for every little thing every time we fly. We do what is called a runup before flight to put the engine in a high performance situation to confirm it runs stable. Provided it does we fly. If it doesn’t we take it back to get looked at. Mechanics are held to the same examination standard and you can’t be an aviation mechanic without FAA testing. Also each aircraft is required 1 annual inspection every which literally takes apart the plane to replace things and inspect items to make sure they are airworthy. Sometimes it can be 5k sometimes it can be 25k. If you don’t get an annual done the aircraft is not airworthy and legally cannot fly. If the plane is being used for hire (flight instruction/commercial transport) it must be inspected every 100 flight hours. There is a lot about aviation people don’t know and make it seem easy to judge or point out the issue or problem but in reality there are so many FAA mandated laws that you must abide by to be a legal pilot both from a airplane perspective and pilot perspective
