His letter in Ocean Star this week:

Friends,

I am currently serving Point Pleasant Beach in my second term as Councilman and also as a County Committeeman. I was elected in 2015 on a platform of working to keep our taxes low and am proud of my accomplishments as a fiscally responsible elected official who votes to maintain the character and integrity of this town.

Unfortunately, over the past few years I have seen my role in our governing body continue to dwindle and my input requested less and less. In fact, I am virtually never even emailed, texted or called by our Mayor and Council President and generally don’t find out what is on the agenda until our Borough Clerk circulates the first draft copy. It has been disheartening to say the least.

Caucus meetings, which are very important for discussing of ideas are virtually nonexistent these days. Everything is conceptualized and decided long before I usually ever even hear about it.

If this is how I’m treated as an elected official and a member of the governing body, imagine how little your voice currently matters!

Paul Kanitra and I met as running mates in 2017 during my second campaign and we immediately hit it off. We knocked on doors for months together getting to know residents and hearing their concerns. I’ve seen firsthand just how hard he’s worked to fulfill his campaign promises and to give everyone a voice in the process.

Paul has established a strong track record of putting the residents first even though it hasn’t been easy for him since being on the Council. Whenever he’s had a different opinion from Mayor Reid he has been derided for not being a team player. Even when Paul asks questions, it’s been looked at as being negative. I’ve been proud of how Paul has stayed the course even when the odds have been stacked against him.

Today, I’m announcing that I am throwing my full support behind Paul Kanitra, Arlene Testa and Doug Vitale. Their “Republicans For Change” team is going to bring some much needed integrity, transparency and fairness to our government and I can tell you it’s sorely needed.

I’m asking you to vote for all of Column B on June 4th, so I can have some help up on the Council. Together, we can end the backroom deals and start involving you all in the process again.

Sincerely,

Councilman Tom Migut
