On May 16th at 11:23hrs Great Bay EMS & Little Egg Harbor Police were dispatched to Phoenix Pinelands Sand Company for a reported subject who’s arm was stuck in a conveyor belt. Crews arrived to find the subject stuck 40 feet in the air and bleeding profusely. A Medivac & additional resources were requested for a rescue assignment. Stations 70 & 71, Monoc MD 1 to the scene and Station 48 for the Landing Zone assignment. LEHPD Officer Bonfiglio applied a tourniquet to the patients arm essentially saving his life while Great Bay EMS members worked quickly to extricate the patient. The rescue assignment and MD 1 was cancelled. The patient was transferred to awaiting ambulance 856 where BLS & ALS crews continued patient care. Once at the Landing Zone patient care was transferred to the flight crew of Cooper 2. The patient was airlifted to Cooper Trauma Center in Camden NJ. Thank you to the Ocean County Sherriff’s Dept.
