Toms River: On Tuesday May 14, 2019 at approximately 3:15 PM multiple police units were dispatched to Vaughn Ave at Somerset Dr for reports of a child being struck by a vehicle. The 12 year old was traveling north on Vaughn Ave on her bicycle when she attempted to cross the road and was struck by a van owned by 21Plus and driven by Charles Santoriello Jr., 34 of Toms River, an employee of the company. The child was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center by Toms River CSO as a precautionary measure.
Preliminary investigation reveals Mr. Santoriello was not at fault for the accident. There were no other injuries. The accident is being investigated by Toms River Traffic Safety Officer Bartoshek.
