Tanner Koch (26, of Oakhurst) is charged with one count of first degree Attempted Murder, one count of second degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and one count of second degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon after he fired multiple shots on Easter Sunday.

Koch was charged on Monday, April 22nd, 2019 following an investigation that began on early Sunday evening. At approximately 5:07pm on April 21st, 2019 the Ocean Township Police Department responded to a 911 call at 330 Elberon Avenue in Oakhurst for “shots fired”. Officers managed to make contact with the victim who made the 911 call.

The investigation determined that after a dispute with the victim, Koch fired several rounds at the victim’s vehicle and at the victim as he ran away. Koch turned himself in to the Ocean Township Police Department on Monday evening and remains detained at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold, NJ.

Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State law.
