Guess they don’t have to get up early for work tomorrow ?♂️
Patrick Brennan why? Many addicts work. True story
Sharon Lynn Huber may be late tomorrow ?
Patrick Brennan maybe he will get help.
Shawn Bowers
Hope he makes it and gets and wants help. Recovery is possible.
Hope he makes it and gets and wants help. Recovery is possible.
Patrick Brennan they never want help
Brina Greis you know what every addict wants? Poor delusional soul
Brina Greis ur ignorant
Brina Greis not true!
What a shame. Drugs have taken over.
yea its the new thing to do rather than hold a gun to your head, EITHER WAY YOUR DEAD, God dammit wake up people
Too close
More tax payer narcan wasted
keep your comments too your self its not being wasted there saving someones life I bet if it was someone you know a brother sister aunt uncle mom or dad it be a different story smfh…
Ej Dill totally agree!!!
Ej Dill totally agree!!!
Bob Garelick would you say that if it was your child?
Bob Garelick would you say that if it was your child?
There goes another uneducated comment smh
Bob Garelick You have no fkn clue. Tax payers. Omg. Shut the fuck up. Enough already. Do you even realize where your money goes???? Lol. Omg.
Barbara Lynn yes part to narcan omg do you know that’s part of your taxes ? Oops guess not ! Look it up
Skye Marie Williams What percent. And.i don’t need to look it up. Your taxes go to everything. What’s your point. You don’t want your taxes to go to that. ??? Lol …. I’ve been paying taxes probably a lot longer than you’ve known how to spell the word.
Skye Marie Williams Everything. Including your child’s education
Barbara Lynn
Since narcan there has been a huge increase of overdoses. They know they will be narcanned an be saved . Narcan enables this addiction in my opinion. I lost a cousin to heroin after being clean for 1 yr he was able to leave the halfway house and that night he used. It’s sad that this shit is out there. We need rehabs for inpatient that are affordable to people.
Wrong. Statistics are bullshit. There are more overdoses because of fentanyl and other shit that these fkn dealers put in heroin. I will never Make excuses but if we don’t start to understand addiction…. then we are doomed. Narcan has given people a second chance. Which. I know a lot are blessed with that option. Addicts will use regardless of whether Narcan is around or not. There are those who get it and learn how to use with it. But. That’s irrelevant. An addict will find a way to work around anything. Naloxone”. Is a life saving technique … just like any other. A lot of our loved ones are blessed and alive and well because of it
Skye Marie Williams I am truly sorry for four loss… I truly understand how you feel. Most overdoses occur when the body hasn’t built up an immunity to the drug. Or there are other deadly factors like laced with fentanyl … addicts don’t really care if Narcan is around or not. It’s addiction. Whether we understand it or not. And it hurts all involved ???
I’m a recovering addict and i can tell you that narcan was the last thing on my mind I just wanted too get high I just cared about when my next fix was yeah I OD a few times but I didnt care if they were gunna give it too me i just woke up one day and realised it wasnt worth losing my life and leaving loved ones like I said before you have too want it and do it for your self if you want too stay clean and im blessed that im alive today and that they saved me …
Skye Marie Williams the only thing Narcan ENABLES is breathing and your taxes have not been raised due to Narcan so stop buying into this stupid argument. If you believe Narcan is the reason we are in the midst of a heroin epidemic you need to educate yourself on the subject. There are inpatient rehabs that are not only affordable but FREE. Our country has a TON of problems and in need of many reforms but Narcan is NOT the problem. Ignorant people who don’t realize how many lives it saves are the problem. It happens to be a very inexpensive medication and costs a lot less than many other things our government frivolously spends money on.
Well, I’m staying out of this. But honestly, what would they have done with it otherwise? Comment doesn’t make much sense haha
Ej Dill Congratulations stay on track. I lost my son to an overdose, it wasnt heroin, but a cocktail of pills/cocaine Either way..an od will take your life. I’m heartbroken til I’m gone.
Skye Marie Williams there’s been a huge increase in overdoses because this county is flooded with heroin and fentanyl that replaced all the pills that the pain management doctors were giving out freely for the past 20 years apparently you know nothing about this epidemic so maybe you should shut your ignorant mouth lady
Skye Marie Williams Addicts are using, thinking it’s ok bc Narcan will save me. The addict is at the lowest point in their life and doesn’t care about being saved. Death doesn’t scare an addict. Years ago, there was a batch of heroin going around that was called TURNER AND HOOCH. People were dying from using one bag. This didn’t make it something addicts avoided. This made it more desirable. When addicted, people don’t think correctly. Their biggest fear is the withdrawal pains, not death.
Ej Dill I’m very grateful to hear you are blessed
So heart breaking I pray he will be ok and gets the help he needs .i hope they were able to save him .
Breaks my heart every time I hear someone over dosing people dont relise how truly hard that life is but if they truly want too stay clean they will find a way just lile they find a way too get high you truly need too do it for your self and want it or they are never gunna stay clean
But it seems the local PDs have decided kids on dirt bikes and atvs are more of a concern than the massive drug issues at hand ??♂️ good call ??♂️
Gary D Barras why put a ridiculous comment up? Do you really think the police are more concerned with kids on atvs and dirt bikes than a young man dying from drugs? Unfortunately drugs are everywhere. The addict hides it very well most times from their own families and loved ones. Police are concerned. Sit in on drug court one day to understand this crisis better. The kids on dirtbikes and atvs are having fun until someone gets injured or killed. I’m sure police aren’t wasting tax dollars driving around listening for the sound of a dirt bike or atv. Most times they are called by residents that are concerned for the child’s safety. The police in this article responded to call for the man that was overdosing. That was a good call.
Jane Kartanowicz Doherty well yeah, they are concerned with people teaching kids to ride dirtbikes and give us problems
My home backs up to acres of pine land. The atvs and dirt bikes ride the path which I see and hear the noise. I don’t complain about it. They are doing nothing wrong and hopefully they are sensible about safety.
Sad…truly.
Sad
Fkn idiots with your immature comments.
Barbara Lynn idiots will do dope knowing its deadly
Joe Pro Oh boy. Duh. No shit. It’s called addiction. Just like anything else. Food. Cigarettes. Alcohol. Sex. Gambling. Are you exempt from any of those things??
Joe Pro When you mature. You’ll understand. Just pray for your kids Trust me
Barbara Lynn actually yes . Im blessed…i am exempt
Sick part is whoever overdosed his friends will want that brand of dope
That’s awesome. And so am I. But. Someone you love someday might not be as lucky as we are. Just please. Keep that in mind
Joe Pro I know. I get it. Trust me. I’m hurt just as passionate about this as anyone. ❤️
Barbara Lynn sorry im.bitter lost too many friends to this shit …my apologies
Joe Pro. I truly truly understand. I get your bitterness. Trust me on this. I just want people to understand. That’s all. ❤️❤️❤️??????
Barbara and Joe Pro… if everyone can stop looking for someone to blame, and start looking for something to help… we would be so much further in this battle against opiates then we are… you two said it yourselves… you just want to make people understand…
I feel the same way…
The problem is it’s so emotionally fueled that we lose sight of what the goal is, and get stuck on the little things…
If we can all just come together and agree on one thing, SOMETHING has to change in order to stop this…. and work together to figure out how…. stop blaming the addicts for using “taxpayer money” for narcan, or “taxpayer money” for methadone Clinic’s or rehab….
We have no issue with taxes going to repair potholes, fix the streets, snow removal, things to make our town and our lives better and easier….
Why wouldn’t it make those same things better by helping addicts find help, and getting this opioid catastrophe under control, or at least getting death rates to go down….
How much do we pay in taxes to house the dealers in jails, or to make repairs to public property that’s been damaged by drivers under the influence, or to police “hot” parking lots to watch for drug deals… or to pay for the raids that go down on suspected dealers properties….
We could gain so much, and save so many, if we just took away the stigma and understood they need help… not all want help, but there are so many who do, and can’t get it… and they end up dying waiting for a bed in a rehab because of insurance issues or overcrowding…. someone else is rushed out prematurely to fit someone else in…..
There has to be a better way… you didn’t agree on the little things when you started off, but you both have the same goal… you have lost too many people you love to this nightmare, and want it stopped…. I think we can ALL agree with that, and that is what we should be focused on….
So very sad 🙁
When will this demon stop destroying lives!!! Prayers being sent
Sheesh
Barbara can’t even use her real name. ?
It’s sad… and for some of you commenting, thank goodness you haven’t had to deal with losing someone you love to this nightmare… or maybe you have, but you don’t understand how addiction works, and you blame that person rather then blame the cause… I won’t call it a disease… but it is a mental disorder for sure….
More people pity those with depression who commit suicide, then pity an addict who got a bad batch and dies….
Addiction is a vicious, cruel, and above all blind attacker that can blindside you, and you end up a year later saying “what happened to me?”, as you sit on your phone, trying to find anyone with anything to make you feel better, because you know that impending withdrawal, the “I don’t wanna be sick”… it’s right around the corner, waiting to debilitate you until you can find anything to “fix” it…
This man is 33 years YOUNG… some may say he’s old enough to know better… some may say he “deserves” what’s coming next… but anyone who HAS SEEN the truth of this horrible drug, they will say, I hope he gets help, I hope he lives long enough to get help… he might be a father, brother, son, someone loves him… what is this was someone YOU love, and there’s people mocking his lowest, scariest moment in his entire life? Possibly even his last breath? You may not get it, you may not pity it… but feel sorry for the innocent people who love him, feel sorry for the people who’s lives are about to be flipped totally inside out and upside down by THIS MOMENT documented here in just a few words… what’s a “news story” to you, that’s someone else’s LIFE.
So even if you have such a callous ignorant cold heart to believe someone deserves death for becoming trapped in a bad decision…. at least have respect enough for the ones who are begging god, the universe, whatever it is that runs this twisted world, for a MIRACLE, because I’ve lived the 5 days in hell, seeing someone you love on life support when just hours before they were laughing, holding their child, talking about the baby boy on the way, giving you a hug, planning a family movie night, and waving goodbye from your front porch, smiling…. then, hours later, there’s no movie night, your family is shattered, and all you can do is try to wake up from the nightmare, hope it’s a bad dream…
And if anyone made a mockery of that moment….
If anyone laughed because “well another junkie dead, shocker”….
I’d never, ever wish that pain upon anyone….
But someone like that….
I’d hope that you woke the hell up, because I feel sorry you live your life in such a bubble that you think life in its most fragile moments is to be joked about.
My son never got to meet his father… my daughter only has faint memories, and remembers not from the actual beautiful moments, but from my stories about her dad… yes he was an addict, yes he had his flaws, but he was an amazing person, and an amazing father… and someday I have to tell my son why his daddy never got to hold him, kiss him, tell him he loves him… all because of fentanyl laced heroin, and a bad decision….
So, do I feel sorry for the person who OD? Yes…
But I feel even worse for those affected by his choices.. because forever they will be questioning “what if I just did this” “said this””called this place”… forever they will wonder what they could have done…. even when you know it’s not your fault, you still think what if…
The victims aren’t just the victims…. it’s the people left behind, with nothing but questions and pain…
so think about THEM before you decide to mouth off and be a comedian at someone else’s expense….
cause the novel, but there are some real assholes on this post, and I refuse to stoop to that level, but maybe some REAL talk about what this moment is like will garnish some respect for this post…. this hits too close to home, and the ignorance on here is why we still keep seeing these posts…. strength to the man in this call, and to anyone who loves him ❤️
Heather Keegan just say no period
Heather Keegan I am so sorry for your loss. My son is an alcoholic. He will tell you tat himself too. But he won’t get help for himself. He believes he will die without alcohol. He has beaten me for trying to get him to put the bottle down. Just saying no for an addict is not so easy. I feel for you.
Heather Keegan well said. This is an absolute horror for all involved ?
Heather Keegan maybe we have and yes we DO understand and we UNDERSTAND IT’S THEIR CHOICE
I have lived with it
So here is how I feel
We saved you how many times on the taxpayers dime? So you can go out and score again, also on the taxpayers dime since you dont work because you are always too high to keep a job.
One narcam on the taxpayers dollar and clean your act up
We are not working our asses off for you to constantly do this
Im tired of heating oh ypu dont understand
YES I do and it needs to STOP
Its not our choice to stick a needle in our veins its theirs they made it each time fron day 1 they know the consequences EVERY TIME
*RANT OVER*
Christine Hinds idk why everyone still thinks this.. but no, narcan is NOT on a “taxpayers dime”. The person it was administered to gets a bill, same with the ambulance bill, and THEY have to pay it. Not us. I’ll keep telling this to everyone spreading wrong information until everyone gets it
Christine Hinds like she said, you don’t fully understand addiction! You my have been around it, but obviously you never understood✌️
Niki Vasta why do people think it’s free? Talk shit when they are clueless!
Niki Vasta why do people think it’s free? Talk shit when they are clueless!
Christine Hinds I agree. One life saving Narcan shot is enough and I think the law should state that and rehabilitation must be attended
Niki Vasta exactly…. and I’ve NEVER needed narcan, Christine… and my fiancé was narcanned 4 times in one night, and it didn’t work, because the fentanyl was so strong…
And I do work, I work every day, I don’t use, I have nearly 7 years clean….
Not bc I was narcanned, but because I’m one if the lucky ones that found a reason to want to live and escape the cycle….
it’s a smokers choice to smoke… so when there dying of lung cancer, why don’t we all say “well, we don’t feel bad, you know smoking is bad, in fact it says it right on the package that it WILL KILL YOU….
What about someone who drinks for years, and eventually needs an organ transplants bc they ruined theirs, and they get jaundice and are sick and hospitalized because they decided to spend their life drinking it away…. do we sit back and say “well, you know alcohol is bad, so this is your own fault, you deserved it”?
And most addicts I know DO work, and you wouldn’t even look at them and think they used at all….
Its this stereotype that you seem to believe is true, this “junkie with no job milking the state for money” that’s what is keeping this issue from being taken seriously, because you think “well it’s no one I know, no one working with a good job and who takes care of their lives”, and you’re so so wrong.
My fiancé worked to take care of his family, as a matter of fact, I was driving home his coworker, so he could stay home and relax since it was late, and he had a long day, when he OD, and I came home and found him….
You don’t understand if you keep saying “it’s their choice, so they deserve to die”.
Picture the SICKEST you have ever been, and multiply that by 1000… THAT is what withdrawals from opiates are like…
You just want to die, it’s so so so terrible….
You can’t sleep, can’t eat, can’t move, everything hurts from your head to your toes, your nose runs, eyes water, head hurts, you keep yawning and yawning to the point your eyes are blurry with tears from yawning so much… you can’t lay down bc your skin actually hurts, you can’t sit up bc you’re too weak….
And all you have to do is take a pill/do more heroin to feel better, for $10-20 you can be completely out of your misery within SECONDS….
That simple….
It STARTS as a choice, but within days of starting, you LOSE that power of choice, because of how strong that drug is….
Who in their right mind would go through HELL for MONTHS of sickness and withdrawal, when for a few dollars, they can feel amazing within an instant?
Most people I know didn’t start with heroin…. heroin became a last resort….
They started with pills, usually percoset, and a lot of times, LEGALLY supplied… after a few days, you become hooked. So your average dental surgery or broken bone, that script is enough to get you hooked….
10-20 percoset taken as prescribed is enough to feel withdrawals…
they didn’t just one day say “let’s do heroin today”…. it became a cycle where heroin was the cheapest way to keep from being stuck in bed for weeks, sick as anything….
If someone runs a yellow light…. they know they can cause an accident….
so we say well, they deserved it, they knew the light was yellow, they knew what can happen?
No.
So before you say “they knew what can happen”, think about ALLLLL the things we can say that about….
People who sit in the sun know they can get melanoma… do we say “well, they knew, so its their own fault for going outside”?
I can go on and on…
Diabetics who eat sugar, people who overeat, people who don’t eat right… all examples, and we don’t say “well they knew better, they knew what could happen”….
That phrase literally can be applied to the majority of issues that kill people, but I don’t hear people tossing it around when someone’s tragically dies young, except for overdoses…
I really hope you never lose someone you love to this… really do… and I really hope you do find a real understanding someday, because you don’t have one at all.
Is the addict free from blame? Hell no…. but do they “deserve” to die!?!? NO ONE DESERVES TO DIE….
Heather Keegan then maybe their family needs to step up. Out could it be they’re tired of it too and have yo? It’s not a disease, not a mental disorder, but a dumb ass mistake.
Heather Keegan i think you forgot a few sentences
Heather Keegan I agree with what you say.just don’t believe my tax dollar should pay for it.
Ellen Fass it doesn’t, not one tax dollar goes to narcan use on an individual…. yes to buy it outright of course, just like it does to supply all medical supplies for the police department… but the person who is injected with the narcan pays for it, they are billed, not the taxpayers… and they don’t pay cost, just like every other medication there’s a mark up…. so taxpayers aren’t paying for any of the narcan that is used on a victim at all….
And dave, when you lose the mother to your children and the one person you love to addiction, see how much you have to say when totally ignorant people treat it like oh well, too bad, he deserved it, move on… tell a child asking where’s their father that oh hunny, your daddy deserved to die, because he made bad decisions that got him stuck…
people are heartless and they are the main roadblock on this path to try to get people to recover, because for every person there is trying to tell them they can get better, there’s a hundred calling them a loser and telling them they deserve to die.
Heather Keegan they may be billed as you say,but how does a junkie who steals, does not work and may be on public assistance, pay that bill. Ultimately it is our taxes.
But we won’t legalize marijuana. It’s not the solution for everyone but i know a few people who have gotten off opioids because of marijuana.
Nicholas Drake 100%!!!!!! The medical marijuana program is now available for people to get off opiates in New Jersey.
Just sad ….
????
My Heart goes out to the family
Same ol ocean gate. Only the users can stop it. Never take it, never get addicted.
Would everyone still be complaining about narcan if it was ur brother, sister, cousin, aunt, uncle, parents, best friend that was saved by it? Unless you’ve lived it or been through it with someone close keep ur mouth shut because ur opinion on addiction is irrelevant
