According to Bradley D. Billhimer (the Ocean County Prosecutor), Adam Nevius (44) and Kimberly Atkinson (50), both of Manahawkin, were arrested on a charge of Failure to Make Required Disposition and Atkinson was also charged with Theft by Deception.

Kimberly Atkinson

The theft by Deception charge relates to her material misrepresentation in the mortgage application that she submitted for the purchase of their Manahawkin home.

The husband and wife owned and operated Coastal Restorations. It is alleged that between 2014 and 2017, Adam Nevius entered into contracts with at least 17 homeowners and 2 sub-contractors for the repairs on those homes. Most of the homes were damaged by Super Storm Sandy.

Adam Nevius

Despite receiving almost $700,000 for repairs, Nevius and Coastal Restoration did little or no work on these homes, and instead used the fund for purposes other than which they were intended.

These arrests and charged are the result of an extensive investigation led by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Economic Crimes Unit.

Prosecutor Billhimer would like to thank the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Economic Crimes Unit, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Ocean County Department of Consumer Affairs, Stafford Township Police Department, Ship Bottom Police Department, Long Beach Police Department, and Surf City Heights Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.

The public and media are reminded that all defendants are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
