The streets of Brooklyn were crowded when tens of thousands of people hit the streets for the funeral of a grand rabbi.
Officers were trying to do crowd control during the procession from 52nd street to 61st street and 12th ave to 16th ave in Borough Park. Some estimates say as many as One Hundred Thousand (100,000) mourners were in attendance.
95 year old Rabbi Yisroel Avrohom Protugal was surrounded by his family at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore when he died on Monday.
An NYPD officer suffered a leg injury after struck by one of the cars in the funeral procession.
The officer was transported to Lutheran Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, possibly a broken ankle.
The second officer was struck in the head by a drone apparently being used by a person attending the services.
36-year-old Yehiel Rosenfeld (drone operator) was charged with reckless endangerment after losing control of the device.

This is the nieghborhood I grew up in. We moved to NJ when I was in high school. This isn’t an unusual occurrence for them to have large groups at a funeral but this is excessive. Apparently he’s very high up and almost 100 so been around a while. They always use their own special police and hatzolah for events. Very little regard foe public safety and others at all. My neighbors were very nice. We never had any problems but I’ve seen mins of them best people. My sister was once dragged into a home and beaten by a family there. We were playing outside and she had wordawithaboy that was picking on us. She was about 12/13 at the time. Police. Ame and I remember it was almost like a hostage negotiation. My father trying to get into the house. Police outside it was crazy! They can get nuts! I try to love all people but there is a select few of this group that need to be locked up!
Denise Desiree Capizzo Stewart EXACTLY

No they don’t. You’re correct. They are “special” police..like security
Why are they not working like real people, we all attend funerals.
Jeannie Stone My thoughts exactly! How is it possible for “tens of thousands” of men to take off of work on the same day. Really?? Catholics couldn’t do this and still keep business open and pay the bills. Just asking? Are they ALL religious “students” and for how long and at what age do we stop supporting this nonsense?
Jeannie Stone It is customary to bury by the next sundown.
Jeannie Stone because they all own businesses, and own most homes people are renting…
