TOMS RIVER – Route 166 will be closed overnight Thursday. Crews will be removing barriers and restriping the road.
The road will be closed between Route 37 and Old Freehold Road.
Motorists will be detoured from 10 p.m. March 28 to 6 a.m. March 29, NJDOT officials said. Northbound motorists will need to take a detour to Route 37, turn left at Hooper Avenue and Mapletree Road, and then left onto Old Freehold Road to Route 166.
Southbound motorists will take a detour onto Old Freehold Road, then a right onto Mapletree Road, a right onto Hooper Avenue, then a right onto Route 37 to Route 166.
Two lanes in each direction should be open by Friday morning. The final paving should take several weeks to complete.

Hard at work lol
Steve Leidy always….?
That’s Union workers at their best!!
Is that the end of this long ass bullshit project?
Supposed to be
Good news
I hope this is the final touch to finish
Fake news. It will take another 2 yrs to finish
I will believe it when I see it. And now that it’s done, traffic will most likely not be improved through that intersection.
Kat Patmore 2 lanes instead of 1? That’s an improvment
True. But still will not help that intersection. It’s just a mess.
Last line of article I read said FINAL paving will take SEVERAL weeks to complete.
It will still be the worst intersection in Ocean County.
3 years and no real solution to the nightmare that intersection is…..TM
So all this time to have basically just put up a barrier and repave the roads multiple times…they made no real solutions for people coming out of uturns that need to go left and assholes are still using the right lane to go straight and cut off all the people who chose the correct left lane to go straight down 166
Samantha Dixon ive been bitching about this constantly
Karan Rae Koller
Nic Inzano
They just permanently installed them barriers!!!!!!!!! Now they taking it out!! Now that will take them another 50 years!!!! And take more money from the contract and we have to pay for that!!!!!! Just LOVELY
Brad Santella its not the concrete ones in the middle.
Nic Inzano oh…. alrighty then,
I see absolutely no improvement
Y’all are out here blaming the workers and this project and failntonrealize that all road construction in the state was shutdown for a year and a half
Phil Haus with the state being “ shutdown” for the time period, what’s the excuse for the year and half after or before? The countless dollars that businesses have lost, and the more traffic issues that are happening then before, care to explain that part?
Phil Haus the job was shut down July to Oct 2016….that’s only 4 months. Have you driven in the area? If so you have seen the lack of work being done
Shit show Taxes at work
bam
Lauren Ann ok
Rich Marshall unreal
Rich Marshall unreal
I heard they are going to have 3 workers there sweeping the road with push brooms. Should be completed by late spring…..
Mary Lou Norton-Distaulo Melissa DiStaulo making sure you do not miss the memo.
I avoid it anyway ::shrug::
I try to. Oddly enough Brick Blvd/Hooper is worse and it has no construction going on.
Thanks. Just drove through that mess.

Our tax dollars at work
Work 2 days … 4 weeks off.
Just passed this so called job site. What a joke
WHAT????????????????????????
you go guys…and go and go. until its DONE!!!!!!!!!1
All problems it was supposed to solve are still there! And now a wall….no left turns from car wash….jewelry store…. and they still cut through shop rite lot like their fucking hairs on fire……engineering company should be hung to dry on this 12 million dollar mess….that’s
12,000,000.00…..could have bought and preserved land at Tom’s river for that amount of cash.
The gods have heard us
Just leave it closed
Kyle Shouldice I’ve been going around for 3 years anyway lol
Well what I believe happened was the storm drainage system was installed improperly, because after it rained the water was still pooling. So they had to redo it over. Well hopefully it’s corrected because the storm drainage grates are almost even with the top of the curb in a few places the last time I drove through there…

When it rains on any County or State road after it is repayved. The water sits on one or both sides of a C.B/ catch basin. If you haven’t noticed that you are blind or just don’t drive much
