When Bernard J Cooke (Or Bernie Cooke) park closed for reconstruction, it was with great promises.
There were promises of dedicated paths for teaching your kids to ride, specialized ball fields, generalized fields, standard play areas, and of course, a professionally designed skate park.
“It’s not going to be the metal ramp type that is really used for BMX riders,”
“It’s going to be concrete – a skateboarders’ park designed by real skateboarders.”
Mayor Ducey – Brick Township, NJ
And while once the hoops were up, people started to come to play basketball, the most popular attraction at the still closed park, appears to be the skate park.
But as time has gone on, we have seen a lot of working going in, and noticed the park nearing completion. As such we decided to try a drone fly-over, on albeit a windy day. So while our video is decidedly unsteady, and the drone was fighting just to stay still (and failing), feel free to watch our video of the park as it nears completion.
The skate park was placed at Drumpoint and then moved away from the school for a reason. Why replace it in a neighborhood park?
John Ciocco idk what you are talking about, the skatepark is still on drum point road attached to the school parking lot….
James Strodel I think I read when this park renovation was announced that the old park was outdated and would be closed when this new skate park opened.
John Ciocco that is correct, but it was only moved because they got money to build a new one and the old one is falling apart because lack of the township giving a shit. Now they built one and only allowing skateboarding, no bikes or scooters. Total bullshit
Pretty stupid to build a skatepark in a public park and only allow skateboards. Discriminate much ?♂️
James Strodel skate….park
Scott A Barnes just for fucking idiots like yourself …..
A skatepark, or skate park, is a purpose-built recreational environment made for skateboarding, BMX, scooter, wheelchair, and aggressive inline skating. A skatepark may contain half-pipes, quarter pipes, spine transfers, handrails, funboxes, vert ramps, pyramids, banked ramps, full pipes, pools, bowls, snake runs, stairsets, and any number of other objects.[1]

Looks like its over by the new parkway entrance near herbertsville. Right near where they forced the pizzaria to close down.
What Pizzaria was forced to close down?
There was pizza place, forget the name of it… Parkway Pizza? I am guessing here
I know there are several in the area, that’s why I ask. The only place I know that closed in the area is Rice King, and I though that was because Wawa bought their location for their pending Super Wawa on the combined site.
If I recall correctly there was another strip mall with in the middle of what is now an intersection at Herborn. It may be J & G’s that used to be on the other side but moved over to the new plaza.
Jason Wall One of my colleagues is telling me you were correct, it was Parkway Pizza. I moved to the area long before everything was done, but it had been started so I don’t know everything that went on. Thanks for the info!
Np, think it may have been eminent domain to get them to move.
apparently it’s opening at the end of may
