LAKEWOOD – An early morning shooting incident is now under investigation with police looking for suspects and more information from witnesses.

Lakewood Township Police Captain Gregory Staffordsmith said their officers responded to a banquet hall on the second floor it El Oaxaqueno Supermarket shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday. A report came in that shots were fired.

Police said large crowds were seen exiting in Clifton Avenue and the manager of the hall told them there was an altercation between partygoers inside the hall but they weren’t aware of gun shots.

Police found evidence of a shooting in the rear parking lot along with several cars that suffered damage from bullets.

During the investigation, witnesses told police that six shots were fired towards the rear of the building by one of three males.

It appears no one was injured but police are asking anyone who may have more information or if anyone was injured by gunfire to call them.

According to a news release from the police department, information developed suggests that the suspect(s) were last seen wearing, a red sweatshirt, blue denim pants and an unknown baseball style cap. The second male was reported to be wearing a white sweatshirt, blue denim pants and a white baseball cap. The third possible suspect was seen wearing a black sweatshirt, blue denim pants and a black baseball style cap.

All left prior to police arrival, possibly in a gray or silver sedan towards First Street.

The above described suspects are considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who may observe the suspects and/or suspect vehicle is urged to contact 9-1-1.
