Ugh. Why do people leave elderly with dementia alone with meds ?
Elderly folks with dementia are quicker than children. Accusations don’t help an already stressed out Family I’m sure. Accidents happen.
It wasn’t an accident when he was left alone with the medication. Would you leave your child alone near medication?

Lisa Williams I’ve worked with many dementia patients…most of them can barely move or get around…have to showered or bathed…helped to the bathroom if still actually use the bathroom…need to be fed…they can barely walk in most cases especially in severe cases…obviously you’ve no experience in the healthcare of these type of people at all

Robin Lee… What I do know is that elderly dementia patients in healthcare facilities are over medicated to the point of being Zombies. Lets call it Pharmaceutical Restraints. Several years ago Senator Chuck Grassley, Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee that oversees Medicare/Medicaid launched an investigation into how Elderly Dementia Patients were given Antipsychotic Medications to chemically restrain them and thousands of elderly patients were dieing.

It’s not clear if he was home possibly with a family member or an aide. My mom needed to be supervised and had to be in a nursing home. Her Dr said I wouldn’t be able to take care of her. But I was there just about every day and still called twice a day. Prayers for this man ??

Sadly I have experienced something like this many many years ago with A Dementia client and it’s very scary. Praying they will be alright and I’m sure the family is upset over this so I’m just praying for them.

It says dementia PATIENT, Lisa…calm down over there. A patient is usually under someone else’s care so Robin’s views arent unfounded.
Lisa Williams just my opinion like it or not…worked with dementia patients in 3 nursing homes…also took care of my grandmother until she passed away as well with dementia and at no time were meds kept anywhere accessible…just like they weren’t with my kids growing up . .not a know it all nor a saint my dear…just more responsible is all ?
