According to authorities, Dylan Rieger (27, of Belford) has been charged with DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) and Reckless Driving after a collision that resulted in a double fatality.

John (60) and Barbara (59) Grogan (of Atlantic Highlands) were attempting to cross from the northbound side of of NJ36 at the intersection of 36 and Grand Ave. It was approximately 7:50 p.m. Friday evening, when they were struck by an eastbound Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, driven by Dylan Rieger who was uninjured in the collision and remained on scene.

The intersection and surrounding area closed down for about Five and a half hours while the investigation was ongoing. The westbound lanes were reopened at 12:45 a.m. and the entire intersection and surrounding area were reopened at 1:30 a.m. approximately.

The criminal investigation remains active and ongoing at this time by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the Atlantic Highlands Police Department and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART).
