BRICK: We recently posted an article talking about the redevelopment of Brick Plaza, and what stores are being added. There was a rumor about a Trader Joe’s opening in the former Ethan Allen. While we haven’t heard back from the corporate office to 100% confirm or deny, we found an article laying out Trader Joe’s expansion plans for 2019. Absent from the list is any new stores opening in New Jersey.

With any luck, there will be plenty more Trader Joe’s locations to come.
Traveling a bit (say, an hour or so; true TJ’s fanatics may be willing to go even farther) to reach nearby Trader Joe’s locations is a bit of a family ritual. The journey to pick up some of the best Trader Joe’s food—like that divisive Trader Joe’s Cauliflower Pizza Crust—can be a bonding opportunity. Anyone with a passion for Trader Joe’s products (and some budget-friendly grocery store shopping) will happily make the trip. But wouldn’t it be nice if you didn’t have to?
To make Trader Joe’s locations more accessible to all, the national grocery store chain is constantly adding new locations, and several planned openings for 2019this link opens in a new tab have already been announced. (One has even already opened its doors.) Trader Joe’s isn’t in all 50 states just yet—the chain is currently in 41 states, plus the District of Columbia—but it’s surely on its way to national domination.

Lynnwood, Washington
This Washington community already had a Trader Joe’s, but the store moved to a new location that opened its doors in early 2019.
Gilbert (SanTan), Arizona
Announced in early 2019, this Arizona location is expected to open within the year, though the opening date is yet to be announced.
Bedford, New Hampshire
Trader Joe’s announced this upcoming New England location at the end of 2018. The store’s opening date is TBD, but it’s expected to open within the year, according to the announcement.
Marina Del Ray, California
This new California Trader Joe’s location should open before the end of 2019, though the official date and time haven’t been published yet.

Multiple inside sources tell me that there are definite plans in the works for Trader Joes in Brick. The new manager has even planned a move here.
I wish people would get over the fact that Toms River and Brick will never get Trader Joe’s, Wegmans and Whole Foods. All three of them have said numerous times that we don’t have the clientele for these chains.

I’m sick and tired of going grocery shopping in brick town (where I live) and feeling extremely uncomfortable because everywhere is slammed pack with humans. You try and move your shopping cart and always feel in the way. I’d like to shop in a comfortable environment. Not feel like I’m claustrophobic and want to get out of there as fast as I can.

Sondra Mofohana Brick definitely needs another good grocery store. Since I’ve lived here I’ve seen Foodtown, A&P and Pathmark all go out of business and nothing has replaced them. I don’t like food shopping at Walmart or Target but I’m guessing that’s what they are considering replacements. ?

Think about it. We have a lot of seniors. How much are they buying each transaction?
1 they are on budgets(usually) 2. They purchase what they can safely carry each transaction.

The median income isn’t high enough. It doesn’t matter how many people live somewhere, they can’t afford to pay the minimum basket size that these stores look for. I worked in this industry for a long time.
also, I think Trader Joe’s would be the only one with a snowballs chance in opening, as I’m sure their basket size is the lowest of the three.

I just called the Trader Joe’s in Shrewsbury and they confirmed that there will be one in the Brick Plaza. Tentative date is August. Whether the tentative date is when it will be finished or construction will begin, I’m not sure. The gentleman I spoke to there said to me, “You’ve heard it from the horse’s mouth.” ? Next time I go to Brick Township to pick up a permit for work, I’ll check the white board they have there with all of the commercial work that is going on in Brick.
