Billhimer announced that on February 7, 2019, Curtis Geathers, 33, of Barnegat, New Jersey was arrested by Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit and Narcotics Strike Force, as well as Detectives from the Berkeley Township Police Department, and charged with Strict Liability Drug Induced Death in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-9a.

On January 10, 2019, officers from the Point Pleasant Borough Police Department were dispatched to a local residence for a report of an unresponsive female.  The female was transported to Ocean Medical Center where she passed on January 12, 2019.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Geathers was the supplier of heroin and fentanyl that was sold to the victim on January 10, 2019.  A toxicology report confirmed that the heroin and fentanyl supplied by Geathers matched the heroin and fentanyl located in the victim’s system.  The toxicology report confirmed that the heroin and fentanyl found in the victim’s system were the cause of her death.

Geathers was taken to the Point Pleasant Borough Police Department for processing and then transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he is currently lodged pending a detention hearing.
