Ocean County Scanner News, LLC is proud to open our Winter 2019 Internship/Volunteer Program for public consideration. We will be releasing information in the coming days on how to apply, but expect a standard application and plan on having a current resume. Volunteers/Interns are welcomed to join the page and help us post calls, go to scenes, take photographs, file OPRA’s, and sell advertising space on the website. This position is completely flexible and you can work around your own schedule. Volunteers are expected to have some experience in writing and emergency communications, but we will consider all levels of entry into the program.

Interested candidates will complete the forthcoming application, include a resume, and we will screen each applicant we receive. Upon successful screening, you may be selected to advance to the team interview with yourself and OCSN Staff Administrators. Beyond that, all candidates who pass the interview may be subject to a background check. Expect a full ACS/ATS/NCIC check, along with a DMV Abstract to be pulled. Please note, having a criminal background does NOT automatically make you ineligible for consideration.

Volunteers/Interns are expected to listen to a police scanner, or through the company Live Scanner Feeds during their expected time in-service. If you don’t own a police scanner, the company may be able to loan you one during your trial phase. Upon passing the trial window, you will have the option to purchase the company scanner, return it, or purchase your own model from a third-party. Every 30 days a staff administrator will mentor you based off your performance.

Available Positions Include: Correspondent, Writer, Photographer, Sales, OPRA Custodians, and Dispatcher. You may also do all roles if you so desire. OCSN, LLC (The Company) does NOT pay interns/volunteers during their 90-120 day trial phase. Upon successfully joining the staff full-time, it will be a volunteer-based position. Earnings are strictly commission-based, and there is NO salary. You can earn cash based off selling banner advertisements to businesses, and a percentage of the revenue from high-performing stories.

We also are looking to expand into Monmouth County via our Monmouth County Scanner News page. If you live in, or can receive Monmouth County, please indicate that on your application.

Thanks for considering joining the team, and we here at OCSN hope to meet some of you real soon! Please direct ALL preliminary questions or comments to Dave at [email protected].
