FREEHOLD – A 76-year old Lakewood woman was fatally injured and her passenger was critically injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Route 9 in Freehold yesterday, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Police responded to the area of Route 9 and Craig Road around noon on Jan. 16 where the three-car collision occurred.

Derrick T. Gyengo, 33, of Laurence Harbor, was travelling northbound in a 2009 Honda Accord on Route 9 when he collided with a 2013 Lexus at the intersection of Craig Road. Gyengo’s vehicle continued onto Route 9 northbound where it then collided with a 2003 Toyota Camry, driven by 76-year old Patricia Limone, and her husband, 78-year old James Limone. The couple was traveling westbound though the intersection when they were hit.

Patricia Limone suffered extensive injuries in the crash and was transferred to CentraState Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 2:09 p.m. James Limone was transported to Jersey Shore Medical University Medical Center with critical injuries. He remains in critical condition, police said.
