MANCHESTER – The township will be spending nearly $2 million on much-needed upgrades to police and other emergency services equipment.

The Township Council approved the appropriation recently. The township plans to go out to bond for $1.857 million and take $93,000 from its capital improvement fund as down payment.

*No word yet on how much encryption they will be using. Manchester started out as being reasonable with encryption and only using it on secure channels. They left PD Dispatch in the clear, and encrypted all other channels, which was a fair compromise. Then a few years ago they got greedy and felt the need to block the public out completely.
