Emergency crews once again shut down part of Route 37, this time during rush hour Wednesday.
Toms River Police told Jersey Shore Online that Verizon crews had emergency work on Lakehurst Road that spilled over onto Route 37 eastbound. That work was completed by 10 p.m. Dec. 5.
“They did not anticipate it being a long job so I was not notified to put out an alert by Verizon,” Toms River Police press officer Jillian Messina said.
Eastbound traffic on Route 37 by Mule Road was tangled for several days just last week, when Verizon had to conduct emergency repairs on underground wires in that area.
According to officials, the job has been completed and there won’t be additional closures.
This construction is not to be confused with the ongoing Route 37/Route 166 intersection work being done by the state.

It took me over an hour to get home. Normally, I’m home in 22 minutes. I’ve never screamed that many obscenities in one sitting.
