STAFFORD – On land, in the air, police officers, police dogs and concerned residents continue the desperate search for a missing man who hasn’t been seen since Friday afternoon.
65-year-old Bu Quach left the Manahawkin Nursing & Rehabilitation Center around 12 noon on Friday, November 2nd, according to the Stafford Township Police Department. Quach had been living at the center for the last year and suffers from Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia. In addition, he suffers from PTSD according to his family.

How did he manage to get out? As a patient with dementia he should have never been able to get that close to the doors. They really need to investigate that place. Too many horror stories from there and I used to work there. I have a few. Hope is found soon. Poor man is probably scared to death
The nursing home I used to work at had a “lock down unit” for dementia and Alzheimer’s patients for that specific reason. The only time they left was for dr/hospital visits or family visits and if there was a special event downstairs BUT a staff member is supposed to be in charge of them if they’re at an event to make sure they don’t leave. The sad part of it is they have 1 person in charge of watching 10+ residents when most dementia patients need one on one care because they do wander off ?
The nursing home I worked at had locked down too AFTER someone escaped down highway tho. SO sad! Praying he’s found soon

Neither one of you knows the situation or events that went on that day so I wouldn’t be so quick to judge the staff. I don’t know when you used to work there but it’s not like the way your describing it now. This is such a tragedy and Everyone is searching for him and we all love him and are scared to death for him so please don’t pass judgement
The cops need to answer too on why with a man with this history why didn’t they start a massive search on Friday. Sadly, with age and weather he is most likely dead.

I work in a sub acute facility that also offers long term care in trenton. I can tell you 100% that this is considered a “reportable event” to the state of NJ and regardless of the outcomes…harsh sanctions will definitely happen. I just pray he is found ??

I live in Stafford and I drove around the area where he was seen last. I was really hoping I would be the one to find him. Now it’s dark and cold. I feel so bad for this poor guy.
This Nursing home should have somekind of survelience cameras so as to see who is coming & going.For all kinds of security reasons.Also,my friends father who had been in Genesis used to try to walk away & they had put an ankle monitor on him so they would know if he tried to walk away.Why didn’t they have any of these precautions?Poor man must be scared to death,cold & hungry.Many prayers go out for He & his family..?

Manahawkin Nursing, the worse nursing home in NJ!
Having experience with dementia patients, they usually are trying to find their way home to a house or area they used to live in/shop in/an area they would dine at when they were younger (a place they remember, that’s familiar to them). I suggest that a portion of the rescue team start looking on walking routes that may take him in certain directions which would take him on a path that could be familiar to him where his end result is an established structure, park, etc….

They are slick, they stand by the door and wait for a visitor, new employee or Dr and just walk out with them.
That’s why I’m a big supporter of wonder guards.
Agreed. New staff who don’t know the difference between visitors and residents could easily make this mistake and let them out. When I first started at the nursing home I worked at I would ask someone who’s been working there if they are a visitor or resident before I even open the door.

No. Alerts just went out saying to be aware of police searching. they finally decided to do something after 3 days. 3 days to late.

WTF!!! Still missing as of SundAy Nover 4th and now the town after 2 days is starting a massive search. Anyone with experience in the emergency service field knows this is just too late. THIS PISSES ME OFF!!! People at the nursing home need to answer for this and the police need to answer why wasn’t a major search started Friday!!! This is a man walking with with dementia and other problems living in a nursing home on foot!!! A search should have been started then!!! SMH!! 🙁

YOU ALL ARE SOOOoO OFF TrACK AND HAVE No clue at all as to what is in place!!! Searches HAVe been going on since the moment he left. I work here it is not how some of you are saying it is!!! Please stop pointing Fingers and saying things that are not true!!!! Family and staff members along with cops have been searching !!!! You all need to take a step back and stop with this. I will not even comment again on this as I should have never even made this comment in the first place but I will say you are all very wrong as to what is actually going on. Please stop and just help us search and pray for him and his family. We all love this man very much and we are ALl hurting right now this is a tragedy and it’s killing us knowing he’s out there especially for this specific resident that we all care so much about. I saw someone, in safety orange, near treeline on GSP south near exit 63. I’d bet it was a searcher. Hope they find him, safe. So sad
If cops these days really did there job he would of been found already but these days they rely mostly on civilians and social media to do the work for them
I’m sure police and volunteers are looking for him. Mike if you’re so concerned why not help? My mom had dementia and while we were on vacation and we had someone with her she left her home & wondered for 2 days. I was furious as no one even called police. Who btw were there in a heartbeat when she fell and I couldn’t get her on the phone. She refused to live with us thought she could stay independent. She went to a good nursing home. No one ever got out. If I lived closer I’d help. ??

Mr. Quach is still missing. The police have been out with dogs & many civilians are taking it upon themselves to help in the search efforts.
