TRENTON: New Jersey’s Paid Sick Leave Act is expected to go into effect in 10 days.
The law signed by Gov. Phil Murphy back in May allows workers to accrue sick time if they couldn’t in the past.
It allows them to earn one hour of leave for every 30 hours they work.

As a part time employee and a single mother I welcome this with open arms.. it really sucks when you have a 102 degree fever and don’t have a choice other than to go to work because bills have to be paid and mouths have to be fed
Laura Michelle just to put this in perspective for you. If an employee Works 30 hours per week they gained about 1.5 sick days. Per year.
Clearly not enough to make a difference if you get sick..
Just another “feel good” law
Wrong. You get 1 hour of paid sick leave per 30 hours worked with a cap at 40 hours. That’s about 5 paid days off.
Thomas Christopher you are correct I figured my days off based on 24 hours not on 8 hour work day
Just wait and see how many big Companies will NOT comply! The one I work for won’t!.
Big or small they must comply.
I hope companies that already offer sick time don’t change their current sick leave policies and follow this plan
