Somebody should be charged with endangering the welfare of a child
Jesus overreacting
Joseph Jones yup the parent, for not making sure the school had all the info.
Joseph Jones ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS CALL THE DOCTOR AND ALL FOR THE NOTE
Really??? Wow
Jeffrey Ashmen the school had all the info. They didn’t read through his whole file and know his history
Gale Cleary Thomlinson the doctors cleared him to participate. If he wasn’t feeling right, the parents needed to let the school and doctors know.
It’s protocol vs. common sense. They know that that kid battled cancer for years . If he needed a day off, you give it to him
OMG!! WHY IS THIS IN THE MEDIA. PARENTSNEED TO CALL THE CHILD’S DOCTORS AND GET A NITE FROM THEN EXCUSING HIM FROM GYM FOR EVER HOW LONG IT’S FOR. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!
OCEAN COUNTY SCANNER NEED DON’T OPT THIS IN THE SCHOOLS. IT’S THE PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO PICK UP THE PHONE AND CONTACT THE DOCTORS TO GET THE NOTE. THAT’S ALL THERE IS TO IT. SOUNDS LIKE THE PARENTS ARE UP TO SOMETHING NO GOOD!
I am sure it has been a nightmare for those parents!!
I’m sure the school knew, I don’t remember if I ever had to actually inform individual teachers that my son was being treated for cancer. But the whole school knew and took care of him.
shut ur caps off ur hurting my ears ………..the kids been through enough I’m sure the school n staff knew ……….def a miscommunication, but also a teacher that cant make decisions 9n what’s right
Her first mistake was reaching out to the APP!
Kid could have sat out but just dressed for gym. Automatic A there.
It’s always been you need a note however the teacher could have said ‘you may sit out today but get a note’
They knew, you bend the rules for a child battling cancer with chemo
Just when I think there may be less stupid in the world. Good to see that the school system is doing away with that annoying common sense.
Teachers aren’t doctors. They don’t know. He should need a doctors note.
If he’s been battling cancer for 4 years I have no doubt that they were fully aware
Treatment for boys is a minimum of 3 years…they knew
Regardless. Just give a dr note. Not that hard.
Do you have any idea of what it’s like to be a parent of a child with cancer? I’m sure they got a formal note at some point
Do you? Im not sure what the point is…..
I have a child with a health issue and I have to issue a form every year and mid year for school, To keep them informed.
im not agreeing with the school by any means on forcing him to participate. Just to be clear.
I do actually, my son had cancer twice. The second time he was in second grade. His elementary school bent over backwards to make sure he was taken care of…his two younger sisters also. Think before you talk.
Anthony Casiano
I’ve been through this before. My son was diagnosed in second grade, the faculty at his elementary school tripped over themselves making sure he was comfortable when he could attend and helping him stay on grade. This seems it’s either uncaring people or a new teacher not knowing the situation.
Perhaps we start hiring people that work in school administration that have some intelligence and simple common sense. Really a simple phone call should have cleared this up
DR P is a stand up guy. Seems like he already made this situation right
Wow says alit for the welfare of our children
I feel like I’m asking the obvious here, isn’t there a nurse at the school?
Just get a Dr’s note and move on. This doesn’t need to be posted
We shared at the request of the mother.
Ocean County Scanner News I understand. Thanks
The school has to follow protocols. If a kid can’t participate in gym then they need a note, whether they had or have something wrong as serious as leukemia or if they twisted their ankle in their back yard the night before. Our district allows 3 missed classes with a note from a parent, after that a note from a doctor is needed. I’m not sure why this is even in the news. Did the boy go through something traumatic? Yes but thank God he is doing better. If he needs to miss gym sometimes great but getting a note stating that is not too much to ask.
What idiots
The higher the position the less common sense exists
