Last week Toms River PD & EMS responded to 5 overdoses in town, with one being fatal sadly. We don’t need to release anything further as our goal is simply to bring awareness and keep it in focus. We are LOSING the war on drugs, and we are losing our loved ones each passing hour around here it seems. Ocean County is number TWO in the state for overdoses behind Essex County. That should be waking everyone up, and talking about it with our children. Educate ourselves about addiction and maybe we can be proactive. Everything we are currently doing is not working; same numbers, different week with different locations.

How much more quickly would have Rome fallen if heroin had been in their midst…
But, it’s getting better, they promise…….. ?
I still haven’t seen needles with little legs and feet running around poking people
Unless you’ve been caught up in the grip, you wouldn’t get it.
Erik Dollman, you now have…
With everyone having phones haven’t even seen a pic or video. Strange.
It’s bad down here in Florida also.mostly them pills
Their shooting heroine here, it’s everyday, so sad for the families
Damn herowine
Many start because they had become addicted to the pills which were prescribed by their doctors.
This isn’t even news anymore. Sad
Exactly…
All it is is just a waiting game now to see who’s next
Healing Prayers to all who are dead and suffering. Breaks my heart.
Mary Ann finally..a person with a humanistic take
How do you heal the dead?
Jack Groyne
…and suffering
I have lost so many people in the past two years to drugs and it’s absolutely insane I don’t think I can handle more deaths… there’s been over five wether I was close to them or they were kids I grew up with and none of them have even reached thirty it’s so crazy and bad out here anymore it’s so upsetting I wish people would finally wake up and stop..
They need more rehab places for them to go. The mental health facilities and substance abuse facilities are lacking in New Jersey. No junkie can kick it without help
There are plenty of places to go it’s just that with addiction they don’t have the desire to go
NJ has great programs and funding for those who seek help!!
Camden has a free methadone clinic. I used to have to drop off and pic up patients there.
So your calling me a junkie! With 13 months clean
Jessica Gonzalez You know people think they’re better because they got their drug with a prescription from the pharmacy. They don’t realize you get just as high off your xanax and pain pills lmao
Victoria Mazzola no they don’t. No insurance no rehab.
Laraine Lanno , yes ! Nj is lacking programs especially for the poor and uninsured
Jessica Gonzalez not sure if your comment was to me? However I was certainly not calling you or anyone else a junkie. Just commenting on lack of services available for those needing help. Congrats on 13 months clean. No easy feat.
Trinity Wixner I know I’m just sick of ppl saying we should just die and we’re loser
Jessica Gonzalez yea I know. It’s something that eats me up everyday. But gotta pick and choose battles can’t try to fight and change everyone’s mind and we definitely can’t fix stupid lol
Trinity Wixner I know! This is why I start school in January for my cdac and Eventually I want to open it like an out reach place or somewhere that attics can go to try to get into rehab just something it’s my passion and I want to do it so bad
It’s sad because this has become so normal.
So sad to hear this
And what are we doing about it… Nothing
Victoria Mazzola yes, NJ has many great programs.
Terry Raymond Eisenbrey I totally understand but obviously these people aren’t getting the help they need
Just giving out narcan and free needles that’s what we r doing
It’s civilian genocide. Instead of the government trying to keep it from happening, they are helping them shoot up in safe havens and giving them the needles to shoot. But yet, insulin diabetics have trouble being able to afford their needles and insulin. Smmfh! The government is allowing this genoicide to happen to lower population. Open your eyes. It’s disgusting! Addicts should be jailed instead of being allowed a safe place.
Brett Johnson look I agree and disagree with you. Because if you go to rehab and you truly want it you will succeed when you come home and it’s not just going to rehab and coming home and going back to the shit and not working in your self. We need to put the work in. Unfortunately I went countless rehabs but I came home and hung out with the same ppl and I just didn’t want to put the work in so I relapsed so many times. And it wasn’t until I was so deep into my addiction that I violated probation and was sent to jail for 180 days that I said to myself this isn’t working I’ve literally lost everything and everybody in my life including my daughter. And one day I was sitting there and I said I’m done living my life like this. So I started to change everything in my life from dropping all my friends that were still using I starting working on myself and going to meetings and I promised everyone that I was going to be different. And that’s what I did. Now I own my own home I have a great job I have my husband and most importantly I have my daughter back. So my point is if you truly want it u will work for you 13 months clean
Congratulations on your recovery, Victoria Mazzola
Stephanie Panza Faughnan huh?
Victoria , sorry that was for Jessica Gonzalez
Jessica Gonzalez congratulations
Noreen Raso Thank you Mama!
Noreen Raso Thank you!

Just keep giving narcan out and they will keep doing it. Don’t worry every time u decide to OD we will be here to revive u for next time u OD. Pretty pathetic
Make an example of them and let there asses go maybe next time these druggies will think twice about sticking a needle in their arm
Katherine Kamm thinning the herd.
Maryellen Acocella yup
Anthony Fontaine (Faceof Drew)
A fact not unlike forest fires, plant pruning or war. All take a given population down a notch. Besides, the greater the population the greater instances of everything in general: birth, death, marriage, divorce, success, failure, and yes fatal overdoses. Can’t fight it because it’s inevitable based on probability and the numbers.

The mental health system in new jersey is failing us.
Very sad
But let’s legalize pot….that will solve it. Smh
I was just going to say that also.
Legalizing pot has been proven to reduce opioid overdoses
I hope they leagalize the shit out of weed.
The judges are giving slap on the wrist and we wonder why we have an epidemic of overdoses!
Not to debate your statement, I do agree, penalties should be far more harsh, but in all honesty, we can blame and point fingers at everyone for the epidemic of overdoses but the real blame belongs to the users~~~ just my opinion.
This is so sad in so many ways.
