A 15 year old called 9-1-1 to report he/her just witnessed both their parents shoot up heroin and wanted help. Unless I’m mistaken, nothing in this post said anything about them overdosing. The 15 y/o called 911 for the police not an ambulance. I don’t agree with that. Handle family issues in house. Don’t bring the police into it!
Sometimes parents drink too much, or sleep around, or do drugs. That doesn’t necessarily mean that their children are being abused or neglected. I’ve known several children of drug users and alcoholics. Most had a tough childhood, but not all. This kid will regret this decision when the parents have large legal fees, lost wages (possibly loss of job), and possibly lose their house because of it.

Joan Marie Good Morning xox. I have no idea why, but seems odd, if a caller calls 911 they have no recourse to trace a call back to identify the location and help protect the child from its heroin addicted parents.

What a brave child. I’m proud of them. I’m so sorry for what this child is going through.
I’m sure that decision to call could not have been easy to make. But the child is probably wanting to save their lives rather than watch them both slowly keep killing themselves. Hope the whole family gets help
I’m not sure why these parents put there kids through this. I will never understand it. I know people say addiction is a disease but I do not at all agree with that. U have a choice a choice that very first time u shoot up Diseases are something that don’t happen by choice. I’m sorry but I feel bad for these kids and think that any child in this situation should be removed

Sadly many addicts innocently enough start down the road of addiction not even knowing that road will get them very lost , many under the care of a dr , beginning with the prescription of oxycontin, oxycodone vicodin or the like , and yet others for whatever the reason think they can try heroin just once only to learn that one is never enough . It’s a very sad thing that we live in and have been brought up in a culture where dealing with pain , of any type is easily avoided in the form of a pill , cream , powder etc , just watch tv for 10 minutes and watch how many pain relief ads are thrown at you , this is part of the reason of why we have a problem with heroin addiction . We should be mindful to remember that yes this situation is not a good one and needs remedy , that this is a family and these are people and human beings and these are your neighbors , so pray for them and judge not harshly and be grateful that it’s not your family going through this .
