Below is the official Press Release from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office:

“On September 15, 2018 at 20:35hrs, the OCPO Major Crimes unit was dispatched to Fremont beach in Seaside Heights to conduct a death investigation. Upon arriving on the beach the undersigned met with Ptl. Greengrove and Sgt. Violante from the Seaside Heights Police Department. Also on scene was Det. Laudicina and Sgt. Burke from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI. Also on scene was Ocean County Medical Examiner Dr. Larkin.
Ptl. Greengrove advised that Seaside Heights Police responded to the beach following a 9-1-1 call about a person in distress in the ocean placed at 19:18 hrs by a person on the beach. Seaside Heights Police and MONOC responded and the body of Amajeets Parmar was pronounced dead via telemetry by Dr. Gray from Newark Beth Israel at 2012hrs. The decedent was transported to Community Medical Center.
The decedents wife, Sukhpreet Parmar, stated they came down to the boardwalk for a day trip with their child and before leaving the decedent wanted to go swimming. She stated it was too cold and said no, the decedent stated he was going to go in and went down onto the beach while Sukhpeet stayed on the boardwalk with their child and went shopping. After a while she noticed police on the beach and realized something was wrong. Decedant has no medical problems and knows how to swim. Jose Cora was standing on the beach and noticed a man in the water calling for help. Jose called 9-1-1 and officers arrived and went in the water and found him unresponsive in the water.
