The shitty weather we’ve been having is not only annoying to us as humans, but it is causing havoc on the county radio system. When the atmosphere is a certain way, radio signals bounce further than where they should go. This means that Burlington County’s 500 MHz radio system is screwing up ours, and Channel whatever TV in Massachusetts is screwing with us. All of this was known when the FCC opened up the TV Band for radio traffic, but their about as efficient as any other Government agency.

Flash forward to 2018 and the county, along with many others, are moving to the 700 MHz band which has recently been allocated strictly for public service radio communications. So now finally, the 700 MHz band is just for cops and fire and EMS, so nobody else can screw around. It also has to be digital, so that is really solid to keep the interference to a minimum.

This is why the page has been quiet lately, we are having a hard time picking up anything sound of Lacey. Once the final radio room is set up, these issues will not affect the page or live feed anymore. We also hope Sheriff Mastronardy keeps his word in regards to how encryption will be selective on the new system, and NOT every channel will be locked out to the public and media. We will see, and remember- he IS an ELECTED official! Let him prove to us all that he believes in transparency when that new system goes live in 2019!
