Toms River: Thursday December 3 2020 at approximately 1:20 PMmultiple police and fire units were dispatched to the area of Dillon Lane in Lake Ridge for the report of a Waste Management garbage truck on fire.

Residents in the immediate area of the vehicle fire were evacuated as a precaution. Toms River Fire Company arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. Residents were allowed back into their homes once the fire company deemed the area to be safe. 

The driver of the vehicle stated he observed flames coming out of the rear of the vehicle after he had been driving on his route as normal.  He stated he immediately exited the vehicle and it quickly become engulfed in flames and smoke.  No injuries to the driver or emergency personnel were reported during this incident.
